ARA Historical Novel Prize EVENT

It was great to learn that after longlisting, To Sing of War was ‘Highly Commended’ in the HNSA 2024 ARA Historical Novel award. I went along with fellow writer and traveller Lauren Chater, whose wonderful book The Beauties was also ‘Highly Commended’.

The ARA Historical Novel Prize is the richest genre-based literary award in Australasia, incorporating both an Adult category and a category for Children and Young Adult (CYA).

Generously sponsored by the ARA Group, the Prize is worth a total of $150,000 in prize monies.

The evening was brilliantly opened by  HNSA Chair and Program Director Elizabeth Storrs, with an Acknowledgement of Country by Michael Oloughlan(who was not on home ground, hence acknowledgement not welcome).

The truly fabulous novel Edenglassie by Melissa Lucashenko won the award! Congratulations to Melissa.

Edenglassie is one of my book recommendations for 2024.
